I, The One Dimensional Player
The WoW Database - WoWDigger.com
I've been playing WoW for about a year now, and I'm wondering if there are others like me:
I don't run instances - they take too long.
I don't BG - it's too repetitive.
I don't do group quests - I'm too antisocial.
I play to level, only doing quests, and only on a PvE server. That's where the enjoyment lies for me, even though I have dabbled a bit in all the other areas of the game. In a couple of weeks my third toon will ding 70, and when that happens I'll probably start another one and begin the journey anew.
For all the talk here about PvP and arenas and instances and the like, I can't help but wonder if others enjoy WoW the same way that I do?

You're like my roommate, in a lot of ways. There are times I don't like doing a lot of those things too. But, we'll go back and forth. Right now, BG's and Arenas are holding my interest, but generally.... I tend to just like soloing and leveling alts, as well as chatting with my guild during it. Not too fond of instances, I personally detest and loathe raids with a passion... I don't care for world PvP (much, I don't like the imbalance and frustration involved with that in it).

If you've tried those things, fine. If not, well...
And, while I spend some of the time solo, this is a game with other players. There's NOTHING to do at endgame that doesn't involve other people. If i hated every aspect of the game that involves others I'd not be playing WoW.

i couldnt imagine playing like that ^^ killing boars and collecting bear ears over and over again. i get bored of questing after 1 minute.
but as long as you enjoy it your way, have fun :) everyone has his own style.

Personally, I find dealing with the communication, coordination, and attitudes of people in raids (as an example) to be excruciatingly painful and often sickening (my personal opinion of humanity tends to lower quite a bit every time). I find working on quests as something I can do with little effort, to relax me after I work and go to school all day; especially while talking to guildies during it all.

I haven't ran an instance in a few months. I just BG, Arena, and Farm on my main while my wife and I have been leveling mages side by side. You'd be amazed how fast questing and leveling is with two fire mages. But we've also run each other through instances the whole way to keep our toons twinked (b/c it's fun) and keep the gankers away - killing skull players that are trying to gank us is an exhilarating experience.
I enjoy those aspects a lot, I like knowing an instance like the back of my hand, and I would eventually like to see every raid boss available and kill them - not for loot (thats a byproduct of the fun IMO) I just want to experience the game. Unfortunately raiding is not gonna happen on my hunter as there are so many of us now - sure I get an offer from time to time to run Kara etc and have accepted a few times but a permanent position within a mature raid group would be nice for the new mage I'm working on or at least the SPriest that I have sitting almost at 50 now.
I guess we'll see but for now, I'm loving the mage and just duo'ing with my wife

Without causing grief to other players, that is.

Kasal, I play the way you play. Instances do take too long for me. I have a family, and other time committments, and can't devote several uninterupted hours to playing.
I have done a few instances recently, but I have dealt with a few people who I really wanted to cuss out, which makes it less fun. If my guild grows enough that we can do instances with just people we know, I could see doing it. But not with strangers.
I only do group quests if someone is posting in general chat for a quest I currently need. I never look for help. I have actually had good luck with finding nice players this way. Frequently we only form a party for a few minutes, complete the quest, then go our separate ways.
The great thing about WoW is that you have so many options on how to enjoy the game. There are so many different ways to go about it that it has appeal to a wide variety of players.
I've never tried BGs or Arenas, simply because the PvP holds no appeal to me. I rolled a toon on a PvP server, and he has been parked at lvl 36 for about a year. I couldn't stand world PvP.
